Dušan Škodič: Triglav is Ours
The book Triglav je naš (Triglav is Ours) was published by the Alpine Association of Slovenia’s Publishing House to mark the 130th anniversary of the Slovenian Mountaineering Society. After an unexpected discovery of an archive in Innsbruck, new facts emerged about the relationship between Slovenians and Germans during the time of Austria-Hungary. The nationalist strife reached the highest Slovenian mountains, including Triglav. But not everything had been as black-and-white as we were taught and the Slovenian mountains and their faces had seen numerous cutting-edge ascents even before World War I. Dušan Škodič, the book’s author, will shed some light on the past and explain why we hadn’t known about these developments before.
