Photography Exhibition: Silvo Karo, From a wooden ice axe to a golden one
Conceptual Design: Kristina Galun
Realization: Domžale Library
Silvo Karo was born in the village of Brdo close to the town of Domžale. Since 1981, he’s been active as a world-class alpinist. He played an active role in the Golden Age of Slovenian alpinism. The milestones of his career, which included Himalayan eight-thousanders as well as 8a sport climbing routes, were the big walls of Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, and Torre Egger in Patagonia and Bhagirathi in the Himalayas. He followed the trends of cutting-edge alpinism, resulting in a strong affinity for climbing light and fast, with as little gear and as fast as possible.
In 2022, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Piolet d’Or, becoming just the 14th alpinist in the world with this prestigious award.
The exhibition will be located in the second foyer of Cankarjev dom.
