The first winter climbs in Slovenia were made in 1907 by Rudolf Badjura and Bogumil Brinšek, who were joined three years later by Pavel Kunaver, Ivan Tavčar, and Ivan Michler. Their society was named after dogwood, a type of tree which is extremely tough but still very flexible.
